AMD is reportedly set to introduce a new naming convention for its upcoming RDNA 4 graphics cards, transitioning to the Radeon RX 9000 series. This marks a departure from the previous “XX00” naming scheme, aligning more closely with NVIDIA’s “X0X0” pattern.
Known leaker @All_The_Watts (X) has listed several upcoming AMD desktop and mobile GPUs. The anticipated lineup includes several tiers, with the Radeon RX 9070 XT positioned as the flagship model. Other variants are expected to encompass the RX 9070, RX 9060, RX 9050, and even RX 9040 series.
As expected, the list doesn’t contain the higher-tier RX 9080 or even 9090 models as AMD is solely focusing on mid-tier segment with Navi 44 and Navi 48 GPU.
In addition to desktop GPUs, AMD plans to release mobile versions, such as the RX 9070M XT, RX 9070M, and RX 9070S, catering to the laptop market.

AMD Desktop RX 90 series
Apart from a list of GPU series, the leaker has provided a little more information about the pricing and expected performance.
The RX 9070 XT has a 256-bit memory bus and is expected to be more powerful compared to the RX 7900GRE but, weaker than the RX 7900XT. This means that the top-tier GPU for this generation will not even surpass the RX 7900XT (the second-fastest GPU in the RX 7000 lineup).
The RX 7090 has a 192-bit memory bus and is expected to be on par with the RX 7800XT in performance. While the raw performance of RDNA3 was good, there is a lot to be desired with ray-tracing performance.
As for the pricing, the Navi 48 will cost around $449-$649, and the Navi 44 cards will cost $179-$349 which will include the RX 9060 to RX 9040 series.
The RDNA 4 architecture is expected to bring significant performance enhancements, with the new naming scheme aimed at providing clearer differentiation between product tiers. This change is anticipated to be officially announced at CES 2025.
AMD Radeon 8000S series integrated GPUs (Strix Halo)
It’s worth noting that AMD’s RDNA 3.5 GPUs, including the upcoming Strix Halo integrated graphics, will continue under the RX 8000 branding, maintaining a distinction between the two architectures.
This lineup includes:
- AMD Radeon RX 8060S
- AMD Radeon RX 8050S
- AMD Radeon RX 8040S
These developments suggest that AMD is strategically positioning its product lineup to compete more directly with NVIDIA’s offerings, both in terms of performance and branding clarity.
Another leak from @momomo_us shows the availability of RX 9070XT and RX 9070 with a retailer (Grosbilk Pro).
Please note that while these reports are based on credible sources, official confirmation from AMD is pending.
