The PlayStation Network (PSN) is experiencing a significant global outage, affecting a wide range of services across all PlayStation consoles, including PS4, PS5, and older devices like the PS3 and PS Vita.
This issue, which began on the evening of September 30, 2024, has left players unable to sign in, manage accounts, or access the PlayStation Store. Both multiplayer gaming and apps that require network connectivity are also down, leading to widespread frustration.
The outage has been confirmed by Sony, which is actively working to resolve the problem. According to the PSN status page, many users are encountering error messages, including PS5 error Code WS-116522-7, which indicates issues with system software updates.
While offline games remain playable, many titles that require online verification or sign-ins are currently inaccessible. Sony has not provided an estimated time for when the network will be restored.
This outage comes at a particularly inconvenient time, coinciding with the launch of several new features and updates on the PlayStation 5, as well as the system’s 30th-anniversary celebrations. Although PSN outages are relatively rare, this marks the latest in a string of disruptions this year, including major outages in March, April, and July.
For now, players are advised to keep an eye on Sony’s official status page for updates and consider playing offline games in the interim.
